makin projects presents Roger Llewellyn in

Sherlock Holmes... the death and life

(in association with Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre)

and

Sherlock Holmes ... the last act

(in association with Salisbury Playhouse)

Both shows directed by Gareth Armstrong

The Sherlock plays continue to sell as well as ever, all over the UK and USA – frequently returning for sell-out visits to theatres & arts centres.

‘An actor completely in charge of his material, his stage and his own artistry, the vocally impeccable Roger Llewellyn achieves an almost old-fashioned, and certainly rare, symmetry of excellence and entertainment’ – The Times, Dublin

‘Roger Llewellyn precisely embodies Sherlock, Conan Doyle would have approved’ -Time Out, London

‘Holmes as you’ve always imagined him - but with a cutting sense of humour’. - Sunday Express

‘Llewellyn is a top-notch British actor, this is the finest, most fully realised one-man show I’ve ever seen’. - Montreal Gazette

‘Llewellyn gives a flawless rendition of Holmes' sharp, complicated observations, with great wit & little maliciousness. He will seem real for even the most fanatical Holmesian : a charming & convincing Holmes, one full of shimmering sidelights, with a conviction and a precision that is a delight to behold’.

- West New York Daily Press

‘This is a truly great production: a wonderfully written, beautifully directed play ..... a wonderful thing to behold. At once funny, engaging, and dark; it is the nearest thing to the perfect short play that you will see. And its crowning glory is Roger Llewellyn.’ - Brighton Argus

Roger Llewellyn won a scholarship and the Shakespeare Prize at RADA; has had a long career in classical theatre, television, the West End, and repeat seasons with the RSC, before 9 years touring worldwide with the hugely acclaimed solo drama : SHERLOCK HOLMES ... the last act!.

..the last act  1999; & ... the death & life, 2008, were written for him by the renowned author, and specialist in adaptations of the Conan Doyle canon, DAVID STUART DAVIES.

Created and directed by the multi award-winning GARETH ARMSTRONG, with thrilling original music by RSC composer, SIMON SLATER, both productions offer memorable, mesmerising, and intensely theatrical experiences.

...the last act! won a raft of 5 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe., and selection as one of The Top Ten Fringe Plays.
It has played well over 700 performances in more than 500 (  ignore point size , laptop in a temper ) theatres around the world, and enjoys many repeat visits.

... the  death & life follows very successfully in these footsteps, and last year, among many other bookings, played to a sellout 1400 seat theatre  in Texas... where it will be followed, in 2013 , by ..the last act!
