Madrugada
‘Mr Sole Abode’
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fusing text, physical performance and a striking set by surreal puppeteers/designers Faulty Optic, this magical show tells the story of self proclaimed architect Mr Sole Abode.
Unable to function under stresses and strains of contemporary material society, he chooses to opt out of a life valued by possessions – and to live in a fridge instead.
Leo Kay’s first show for Madrugada is directed by theatre pioneer Benji Reid and produced in association with Contact Theatre, Manchester and Weekend Arts College.

Leo Kay - Artistic Director, Madrugada
Leo Kay is a dance theatre practitioner who writes, performs, teaches and choreographs independently, for venues and for theatre companies.
‘Madrugada’, from the Portuguese meaning dawn, is often used to describe the magic hour before dawn. In the depths of sleep or at the height or the party when all or nothing occurs and the veils separating realities are at their thinnest. Madrugada describes the ’in between worlds’ when rituals are at their most potent. Madrugada is a physical performance company working in experimental theatre.
