“A communicator of real lives through writing, devising, discussion, debate and performance”
Each of the below workshops is tailor made to suit the needs of the group, whether writing and devising for performance, or purely a time of exploration, questioning and fun.
The workshops for training purposes can be used to raise awareness of difficult issues; and provide an educational resource for PSHE and Citizenship.
Workshop 1 – from 2 hours -
· Writing and Devising: This workshop enables the participants to explore objects and situations from their ‘everydayness’ and to transform them into an extraordinary performed situation and become a partaker of change.
Exploring real stories and transforming them into a theatrical happening
Workshop 2 – 2 hours
· Confidence Building: This workshop explores self esteem issues that arise in the everydayness of the individual, in the home, the school and the workplace. To tease out what is familiar, to excite, to stimulate, to facilitate and to enable people to explore their own potential, to question and to challenge. The main focus is to have fun and to find the voice within, to let go and to enjoy the person you are and to leave with a mountain top experience.
Workshop 3: from 2 hours -
· Domestic Violence/Abuse: The aim of the workshop is to raise awareness of the realities of Domestic Violence and to dispel the myths and stigmas surrounding a taboo subject. To empower, to question and explore the boundaries of our behaviour, and where the line is drawn between what is acceptable or unacceptable.
This workshop can be expanded to a longer residency option with an added performance of Laurielorry’s production Cracks of Light which explores and highlights issues surrounding domestic violence and abuse. The performance is ideally staged at the start of the residency allowing participants easier access to open debate and understanding of a difficult subject matter in an informative, entertaining but poignant way.
