‘BENDRIX’ - The Hendrix Project

Benji Kirkpatrick is a massive fan of Jimi Hendrix. His first musical icon. Almost a deity.

Though immersed in folk tradition and a stalwart of the folk scene, Benji takes the songs of Jimi Hendrix and re-interprets them; stripping back the layers of guitar, the psychedelia, the era and bringing the songs out in their pure form. For behind the axe wielding antics associated with Hendrix there are great songs and Benji will distil these into a completely acoustic setting. Leaving behind the guitar altogether (Hendrix did that rather well…), Benji tackles this material on bouzouki, banjo and mandolin, creating a unique approach and sound for these songs.

Always respectful of the originals, whilst always looking for a new angle Benji performs the songs of Hendrix like you’ve never heard them before.

Benji Kirkpatrick is a musician, singer and songwriter. He is a founding member of folk big band Bellowhead, reformed trio Faustus and has worked and toured extensively with Seth Lakeman, Maddy Prior (the voice of Steeleye Span) and The Oysterband.

He has made three solo albums consiststing almost exclusively of self-penned material and all have received much critical acclaim as well as radio play. There will be an album of Hendrix adaptations released to co-inside with the Autumn 2015 tour.
